Neosporin is better known in the US as an antibiotic product for preventing the risk of bacterial infection in wounds scrapes and burns. Its active ingredients are Neomycin Sulfate, Bacitracin Zinc and Polymixin B. It also contains Vitamin E to help reduce the formation of scars.
Although there were no known adverse side effects of Neosporin, contact your doctor immediately if you experience any rashes, hives, burning sensation, pain or itching.
For anal fissure, it is important to clean and dry the affected area before every application. Use soft, cotton clothing to reduce moisture and tension due to rubbing.
Both products are manufactured under Johnson & Johnson for the treatment of minor wounds, scrapes, burns, eczema and other mild skin problems. They are both antibacterial products that prevent the growth of bacteria for faster healing of wounds and reduce the risk of infection.
If you are allergic to Neomycin, you can opt for Polymixin and vice versa. You may have a hard time finding Neosporin in Canada as it is better marketed in the US. Polysporin, on the other hand, is widely used in Canada, with different variants. Both products help reduce pain and minimize the appearance of scars.
